"I’m a charismatic woman with a love for life’s simple joys. Singing has always been one of my favorite ways to express myself—it lifts my spirit and allows me to share a part of my heart with others. When I’m in the garden, I feel a similar joy; nurturing plants and watching them flourish gives me peace and a sense of connection to nature. Between music and gardening, I find balance, creativity, and happiness, and I love bringing that same energy and warmth into the lives of those around me.

I work as a part time customer service representative, and what I love most about my job is the opportunity to connect with people every day. Helping others, listening to their needs, and finding solutions that make their experiences better. I’ve always had a genuine love for people, and this role allows me to channel that by showing patience, empathy, and care in every interaction."

What Stands Out

Netta traveled all of the way from Louisiana to Handspring's Salt Lake City, Utah clinic for specialized upper limb prosthetic care. She received care from Tim Bump, MSPO, CPO who utilized state of the art equipment to design and fabricate her prosthesis. Her prosthesis incorporates a custom milled silicone interface and a 3D printed frame.

What led to the amputation of your arm and how has your life changed since you became a transradial level amputee?

"Twenty-five years ago, while three months pregnant with my daughter, I lost my arm due to illness. At the time, I also had a 1½-year-old toddler my son, and the challenges of caring for both a newborn and a little one with only one arm felt overwhelming. There were days I wondered how I would manage, but what I discovered was a resilience inside me that I didn’t even know I had. I learned to adapt, to push forward, and to find strength in the midst of difficulty—not just for myself, but for my children. That journey shaped me in ways I could never have imagined, and it showed me that even in life’s hardest moments, there is a deeper well of courage and determination within us than we often realize & that God was right there with me in the midst of it all."

What were your impressions of your care here at Handspring and your Excelerated fitting?

"I was honestly very discouraged before getting my new arm, now I'm on cloud nine. My life is much easier doing daily tasks. And my confidence is through the roof now. Handspring Prosthetics, from the very beginning went above and beyond to make sure I got the help I needed to receive my new prosthesis. What stood out most was their genuine willingness to guide me through the process and make everything as smooth as possible with such care. Even with the challenges of working in such a short period of time, their expedited service made the entire experience easy and stress-free. Tim is my Prosthetist & he went above & beyond to make sure my socket was just right. And took my vision of how I wanted the outer forearm to look & turned it into reality. Handspring Prosthetic Team with their dedication and support have made such a difference for me, and I couldn’t be more appreciative. "Becoming a new amputee is never easy—it comes with challenges, adjustments, and emotions that can feel overwhelming at times. But it’s important to remember that the world of prosthetics is here to help ease that burden. With today’s advancements, prosthetic technology can make navigating this new reality a little easier and open doors to possibilities you may not have thought were possible. Just as important, though, is giving yourself patience and grace as you learn. This journey takes time, and every small step forward is progress. Be kind to yourself along the way—you’re adapting, growing, and building a new way of living, and that in itself is a powerful strength."
